A local food and travel author will speak at the annual meeting of the Friends of Lakeview Library Thursday, Feb. 9, at the library. Author Mary Bergin’s most recent book, “The Wisconsin Supper Club Cookbook,” includes items on Kavanaugh’s Esquire Club on the Northside and the Avenue Bar, recently renamed the Avenue Club and Bubble Up Bar.

The Friends of Lakeview Library event will begin at 6 pm with social time, followed by a 6:30 pm meeting, and the author’s remarks at 7 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend, but only current members of the Friends may vote.

Other books by Bergin include “Eat Smart in Germany,” “Sidetracked in the Midwest: A Green Guide for Travelers,” “Hungry for Wisconsin” and “Sidetracked in Wisconsin: A Guide for Thoughtful Travelers.”

A former feature editor of The Capital Times, Bergin’s work appears in the Chicago Tribune’s travel section as well as several other regional and national publications. Her national awards include a Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism Award in 2015 for a Chicago Tribune article about a bratwurst museum in Nuremberg, Germany.
