The Friends of Lakeview Branch Library hold their next Quarterly Book Sale Saturday, June 17, 9 am‒4 pm, with a members-only sale Friday, June 16, 6–7:45 pm and a Saturday Bag Sale 2‒4 pm. There are always great bargains and all proceeds fund library programs.

Yoga Sprouts
Mondays, June 5–26, 10:30 am
(children ages 2‒5)
Join Yoga Sprouts instructor, Katie Muschlewski, for a fun class. Yoga enhances children’s ability to concentrate and works out those wiggles while allowing you to bond with your child. Give yoga a try; no experience is necessary. All classes are interactive, caregiver and children together. Please bring a towel or yoga mat for yourself and your child. Read to a Dog
Saturdays, June 10 and July 8, 2 pm
Bring a favorite book (or find one at the library) and read aloud to a furry friend. Call the week of to register for a 15-minute slot or simply drop in.

Terrific Tuesdays
Tuesdays, June 13–July 25, 4‒5 pm

Join us for all sorts of creative projects. There will be arts and crafts, cooking, games and more. Prior registration is not required. Note: no program July 4.

Library LEGO Club

A fun and active family fitness class for all abilities. Learn how to enhance your self-esteem by using basic exercises every day. Venus Washington, owner of R U Fit, will coach you on how to be mindful of your well-being by using upbeat music and easy body movement. Come join us. Prior registration is not required.

Drop-in Preschool Storytime

A happy blend of stories, fingerplays and songs that help preschool children develop print and phonologic awareness, vocabulary, letter knowledge and narrative skills. Groups are welcome. No registration is required.

Art Flag Workshop, a Bubbler Jr. Program

Pedestrian flags boost safety and visibility for Madisonians young and old when crossing busy streets. Join artists Danika Laine and Craig Grabhorn for an Art Flag Workshop. You will customize flags through screen printing, paint, reflective materials, collage and other mixed media. Movie Matinee: Rogue One

Stop in before the movie to get your picture taken with a costumed character from the Wisconsin Garrison Devastator Squad from 1:30‒2:15 pm. The movie begins at 2:30 pm. Former scientist Galen Erso lives on a farm with his wife and young daughter, Jyn. His peaceful existence comes crashing down when the evil Orson Krennic takes him away from his beloved family. Many years later, Galen is now the Empire’s lead engineer for the most powerful weapon in the galaxy, the Death Star. Knowing that her father holds the key to its destruction, a vengeful Jyn joins forces with a spy and other resistance fighters to steal the space station’s plans for the Rebel Alliance. Rated PG13 for extended sequences of sci-fi violence and action.

Book Arts Workshop, a Bubbler program
Tuesday, June 13, 6‒7:30 pm
(ages 14 and up)
Learn how to stitch, glue and fold to create handmade books, which can be used as sketchbooks, personal journals or foundations for artist books. We will also discuss the role of the book in an artistic context and its role as a narrative vehicle. No prior experience is necessary; maximum enrollment is 8 people. Registration begins May 30.

Movie Matinee: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
Saturday, July 15, 2:30‒4:45 pm
The year is 1926 and Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds. Rated PG13 for some fantasy action violence.

Ice Cream and Cookies

(limited to 16 adults, ages 18 and up)
Join Punky Egan, master baker, to learn about ice cream and cookie making and how to pair the two for the best ice cream sandwich ever. Punky will discuss the various types of ice cream makers, how to make your own ice cream and give examples of different cookies for a crispy or soft ice cream sandwich. Each participant will enjoy some samples. Registration begins Monday, July 3.

One-On-One Writing Assistance
Mondays, 4–7 pm
Free one-hour sessions for writing help including resumes, cover letters, online job searches, applications and any creative writing. This program is funded through a grant and staffed by UW Writing Assistance staff. Call 246-4547 to sign up.

Mondays 10 am‒12 pm, Thursdays 1–3 pm, and Saturdays 9–11 am, by appointment
