The Friends of Lakeview Branch Library hold their next Quarterly Book Sale Saturday, March 18, 9 am‒4 pm, with a members-only sale Friday, March 17, 6‒7:45 pm, and a Saturday Bag sale 2‒4 p.m. There are always great bargains and all proceeds fund library programs.

English Class for Parents
Tuesdays, Jan. 17‒April 4
Dinner 5 pm, class 5:30‒7:30 pm
Parents will learn English communication skills to talk about school, reading with children and more. Free children care and dinner provided each week. For more information, call 244-3911.

Drop-in Preschool Storytime

A happy blend of stories, fingerplays and songs that help preschool children develop print and phonological awareness, vocabulary, letter knowledge and narrative skills. Groups are welcome, no registration is required.

LEGO Buildathon

Library LEGO Club

Read to a Dog

Movement in Your World Family Dance
Mondays, March 6‒27, 10:30 am

Join the Madison Ballet for a fun, creative movement experience for the whole family. In this 30-minute class, children and parents dance together while focusing on body awareness, motor skills and individual expression through movement. Registration begins Feb. 20.

Library Laboratory
Fridays, Feb. 3 and March 31, 3‒5 pm
(children ages 7‒12)
Explore hands-on artistic, creative and techie tools for building, creating and playing with a different focus each week. Flex your tinkering brain muscles with new inventions, problems and puzzles. Drop-in and stay as long as you like. Supervised younger siblings are welcome.

Valentine Cards and Garlands
Thursday, Feb. 2, 5:30‒7:30 pm
This class is limited to 15 people. Register by calling 246-4547. Craft something for your favorite Valentine. Local gift shop Anthology will provide decorative papers, rubber stamps, German paper scraps, twinkling watercolors, washi tape, paper punches, ribbons, buttons, glitter and more for you to create cards and garlands for the upcoming holiday. Experiment with hand lettering, pop-ups and other fun techniques that the shop owner can teach you.

One-On-One Writing Assistance
Mondays, Jan. 23‒March 13 and March 27, 4‒7 pm

Free one-hour sessions for writing help, including resumes, cover letters, online job searches, applications and any creative writing. Funded through a grant and staffed by UW Writing Assistance staff. Call 246-4547 to sign up.

Computer and eBook Assistance
Mondays 10 am‒12 pm, Thursdays 1‒3 pm, Saturdays 9‒11 am, by appointment
We offer free one-on-one sessions for help with basic computer and internet literacy, including online job searching and applications, using email and Facebook, and e-reader setup and assistance. Call 246-4547 to make an appointment.

The Lakeview Library now has a TI84 Plus Graphing Calculator available for 28-day checkout. All you need is a library card in good standing and an ID. Just ask at the information desk.
