Outdoor seating

By the time you read this, Willy Street Co-op–North’s new patio should be done (or almost done). There will be comfortable outdoor seating so you can enjoy a meal or a cup of coffee outside as well as inside. Landscaping and a new coat of paint on the front of the store will also brighten the area.

New juice bar

This fall we will be adding a small Juice Bar. This was one of the most frequent requests customers have made, so we’ve been working on how to offer this service. In addition to the self-serve coffee we already have, customers will be able to order fresh juices, smoothies, tea or coffee drinks. You’ll also find a selection of bottled, ready-to-drink juices on our shelves. We plan to start offering these beverages later this fall.

New made-to-order sandwiches

We’ve gotten positive feedback about our grab-n-go sandwiches in our deli, but we’ve also heard requests for other kinds we don’t currently offer. So we’ll be adding made-to-order sandwiches — including hot sandwiches — to our menu this fall.

October is a good time to become an Owner

When people choose to become a Willy Street Co-op owner, they make an equity payment to invest in the business. During the month of October, we will be holding an Equity Drive to encourage owners to pay off any remaining equity on their account. Anyone who chooses to become an owner during that time will have the $2 administrative fee waived, so it’s a cost-effective time to join. (Our Access Payment Plan, which offers smaller equity payments of $4 or $7 to those who receive certain kinds of financial assistance, already waives the administrative fee.)

If you’re not yet a Co-op owner and you choose to join by Oct. 16, you’ll be able to receive the sale prices we’re offering for Owner Appreciation Week (Oct. 16‒22). It takes only five minutes to sign up to become an owner and you start receiving the benefits that day, including: daily, weekly and monthly owner-only sales; discounts on classes; a 10 percent discount on most products when you pre-order a case; and a voice in how your Co-op is run.
