The highlight of 2017 Lakeview Palooza will be Four Seasons Theatre’s presentation of “The Poets of Tin Pan Alley.” The songs of leading lyricists Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, Lorenz Hart and Ira Gershwin will be performed. The hour-long program, beginning at 1 pm, will bring you well-loved standards like “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered,” “Night and Day” and Blue Skies.” The program will also include information about the lives of these Broadway poets and there may be an opportunity to sing along.

Lakeview Palooza, a free event sponsored by the Friends of Lakeview Library, will take place from 10 am‒3 pm Saturday, Oct. 21, inside and outside the library, which is located in the Northside TownCenter.

Other musical entertainment during the event will be provided by marimba player Eric De Los Santos from 10 am‒12 pm and fiddler Gene Delcourt with his students from Shabazz High School from 12‒1 pm and from 2–3 pm.

A popular feature during last year’s Lakeview Palooza will repeat with a display of first responder vehicles in the parking lot from 10 am‒12 pm. A Station 10 firetruck, a North District police car and an ambulance from Ryan-Joyce will be open for inspections, with staff present to answer questions. A special treat will be canine police officer Falko with handler Sarah Boespflug.

Al Keup will blow bubbles with children in the garden in back of the library in the morning. FaceMuse will do face painting outside the library from 12:30‒2:30 pm. Children also can be artists by chalking the sidewalk. Inside the library, coloring pages will be available for children and adults to color in the Teen Room. Each child coming to Palooza will receive a free book.

DreamBikes will offer bike repairs from 12:30‒2:30 pm outside the library.

Refreshments from Willy Street-North will be provided, courtesy of Willy Street Co-op and the Friends of Lakeview.
