Girl Scout Troop 2082

For a number of years, the seven scouts of Girl Scout Troop 2082 have been volunteering at the Hootenanny at the Hawthorne branch of the Madison Public Library. This year, the girls are taking their volunteering a step further by earning their Community Service Bar. The Cadet Community Service Bar is earned by making a difference in the community and practicing the values of the Girl Scout Law. It is also a way for girls to get involved with a cause they care about. To obtain this award, the girls must complete a minimum of 20 hours of service to one organization. So far, three of the troop members have completed this award, and another has almost completed her volunteer hours.

At their December meeting, the scouts had a cookie exchange, which the troop has been doing for a few years. This gives the girls and their families the opportunity to bake goodies for the holidays and share them with others. The scouts also made string art pictures. They made a template of their creations, hammered nails into the wood, and then added string.

The scouts of Troop 2082 extend a huge thank you to the Sherman Avenue Methodist Church, who so graciously sponsors the troop and allows the girls to meet at their facility twice a month. Thank you for making this journey possible.
