The 2016 Dane County Food Days, an event of the Dane County Food Council, will be held Oct. 21–23 on the Northside of Madison. This year’s main event, Re-plated: A Community Meal, will highlight the many ways to decrease food waste in the community, including serving a meal made from produce gleaned from local farm fields. The public is invited to enjoy this free meal, which will be served from 1–4 pm at Mendota Elementary School, 4002 School Road.

The Re-plated meal will be made from produce that would have otherwise been wasted, showcasing the fact that we can feed a lot of people with delicious, nutritious food that often is left in a field or discarded. Each year, the Dane County Food Council event reaches a wide audience of farmers, activists, restaurateurs, community gardeners, educators, processors, entrepreneurs and community organizations engaged in building a sustainable and equitable local food system.

Throughout the weekend, a series of events planned by local organizations will be held to celebrate food. The FEED Kitchens Bazaar will be held Saturday, Oct. 22, at 1219 N. Sherman Ave. Visit http://danecountyfooddays.com for the complete schedule of Food Days events.
