Door Creek Church delivered 200–plus Thanksgiving meals

Door Creek Church partnered with the South Madison Coalition of the Elderly and North/Eastside Senior Coalition to deliver more than 230 Thanksgiving meals to the elderly, sick and shut-in on Thanksgiving Day. The fact that over 50 volunteers took time out from their own holiday to help someone else in need warms my heart and gives me hope that we live in a community that loves to serve people.

My wife, Tracy, and I have been coordinating this event for the past 17 years, and we have seen it grow from 75 deliveries to over 200. In the past we serviced the south side and downtown only. This year, since I have been appointed as pastor of Door Creek’s future Northside Campus Church, I felt the need to include serving individuals and families on the Northside as well. I must say, our first year of expanding to the Northside was a huge success.

We thank the Northside Planning Council’s FEED Kitchens for providing an excellent space to prep the food, cook and deliver from the facility. Last, but certainly not least, thank God for the many donations and contributions made toward the event. We’ll see you next year.
