We are building a great new team here at Kennedy Heights Community Center (KHCC). In mid-June, Claude Gilmore retired. The KHCC Board of Directors brought in Cora Kruzicki as the Interim Program Director and Lorri Wendorf as the Interim Operations Director. Both will be on board until a permanent executive director is hired. The board hopes to have the new director hired within the next couple of months.

There are also a number of new staff joining the KHCC team:

  • True Vang, Early Childhood Program Assistant Teacher
  • Samual Welk, Elementary Program Lead Teacher
  • Erica Hoyt, Elementary Program Assistant Teacher
  • Shanti Varma-Lenz, Girls Inc. Coordinator and Middle School Program Teacher
  • Alex Brannan, Custodian
  • Kevin Stirgus, Food Pantry Coordinator
  • Yasmine McNeal, AmeriCorp
  • Cynthia Johnson, AmeriCorp

Continuing staff team members include:

  • Nicole Cummings, Early Childhood Program Lead Teacher
  • Marquis Mason, Boys Group Leader and Middle School Lead Teacher
  • Chao Vang, Asian Outreach Coordinator
  • Darlene Jabang, Program Assistant

The KHCC is building a great team to provide the children and families at Kennedy Heights and the Northside with opportunities for a future that can reach new heights. As the Center begins community outreach events, we hope all Northsiders will stop by, meet the staff and get to know more about the hidden gem that is the Kennedy Heights Community Center.

I want to send a big thank you to the community, board of directors, staff, funders, Northside Planning Council, Goodman Community Center and Lussier Community Education Center, all of whom have helped us through this transition period. Stay tuned for even more changes.
