Troop 127

Boy Scout Troop 127 celebrated with Nathan Kasel during his Eagle Scout Court of Honor held March 9 at St. Peter Catholic Church. Nate earned his award after completing over 21 merit badges, including First Aid, Emergency Preparedness, Citizenship, Camping, Cooking and many others. Working to earn badges encourages scouts to explore their interests, develop new skills and learn about potential careers.

All Eagle Scouts must also complete a major service project that they plan, organize and execute with the support of volunteers. Nate completed his project at the Edna Culver Wetlands Conservancy in Token Creek. His project involved clearing brush and debris from an historic barn foundation. He and a large volunteer crew also refurbished a picnic table and installed an informational sign that Nate researched and helped design.

Nate’s Eagle celebration caps almost a decade of scouting adventures. He has paddled the Boundary Waters, kayaked across the Apostle Islands and hiked the mountains of Cimarron, New Mexico, at the Philmont Scout Ranch. Nate remains active in Northside Troop 127 and is currently a junior at East High School.
