Boomerangs announces Northside grant awards

By Craig Gielow and Lauri Lee

Northside nonprofits and schools working to close the achievement gap on the Northside were awarded $7,250 in grants by Boomerangs Resale Store. Grant winners included Sherman Middle School, VSA Wisconsin and Community GroundWorks. Gompers Elementary School received the most community votes through social media to be awarded the Northside Love grant. The grants were awarded during Boomerangs night at the Mallards game, Aug. 10.

Boomerangs Resale Store is a ministry of Door Creek Church. The resale store provides high quality, gently used clothing, household items and furniture at a reasonable price. Those who make a purchase or donate an item to Boomerangs are part of a circle of giving that fulfills the store’s mission of recycling the store’s profits back to our community.

Boomerangs Resale Store is located at 1133 N. Sherman Ave. in the NorthGate Shopping Center. Boomerangs Resale Store was established in 2008 with the goal of meeting the needs of people in the community.
